Simple Aesthetics/ An Update
Remember how I said id try to keep this blog updated every other week. Yeah that was a good joke wasn’t it.
Anywhooo, Id just like to start by saying a huge THANK YOU to everyone that took time out of their day and lives to purchase one of my sticker packs. As of TODAY we are officially SOLD OUT OF STICKER PACK VOL. 1. It means the world to me that there are many kind souls that enjoy my work and are willing to support me by buying a pack. HUGE deal for me. With all the proceeds made, I reinvested that money back into my work by making many different purchases such as, C-41 Chemicals, a darkroom bag, a development tank, gloves, bottles, a film scanner and the biggest investment, the repair cost for my Pentax 645, more on that later. In all, with everyone’s support, I am now able to process, develop and scan my own 35mm and 120mm photos at home!! This has been a HUGE STEP in the right direction to progress my work. As of today, I have now developed and scanned ~16 rolls of color and BW film.
The rolls of film developed ranged from stocks of film that I shot late last year to now, this also includes 120 mm film shot with my Pentax 645. However, after developing old rolls of film, I began to shoot again but with a mindful intent, sort of an opportunity to check in with my creativity and what was catching my eye. Over the course of probably 3 to 4 months, I took my camera almost everywhere I went and shot whatever appealed to me. Perhaps there was a story within the subject but at times, from studying my own shots, I gravitated towards visually aesthetic objects or scenes that were also very simple in nature. After looking through a couple hundred of photos, I was able to piece together a series of 20 photos
This new series is called “Simple Aesthetics”~~~ The focus of the photos fall within a simple motive and are part of my own mindful art experiment to check in on what was really grasping my attention in the world. These photos set forth a new kind of awareness into my own style of shooting and is allowing me to find ways to create ways to tell new narratives in the form of simplistic photos. Lines, shadows, trees, cars, hands, skies, water and fences, when captured are pleasing to the eye, very simple in nature but still have a lot to tell you, the viewer.
AGAIN THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO PURCHASED A STICKER PACK!! There are still individual stickers available for purchasing if you missed out on the packs. ALSO
BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR PRINTS IN THE NEAR FUTURE!! IM LOOKING TO CREATE A LIMITED SERIES OF PRINTS PERFECT FOR LOVERS OF ANAHEIM AND OC IN GENERAL! They would make great christmas gifts hehehe
